Over the past few decades, even simple tasks have noticeably changed. Some twenty years ago, writing a letter would only mean the postal system. It was the most convenient way for people to communicate through writing. Now people have e-mails, high end phones, teleconferencing.  With the simplest effort, connecting to the other side of the world is no hassle.

Most of the current technologies that the world is experiencing are based on sciences. The technical definition that our grade school science teachers have taught us that technology is an applied science clearly is making sense.

As people mature, the appreciation of these disciplines that our technology has depended upon increases. Physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, are among the disciplines that are quite familiar and precise. Technology is ever changing because  people continue to explore and discover new things. These disciplines just encompass a wide range of knowledge.

Science and technology provide a wide array of career options. Each career choice provides its own identity and importance to society.  Some of the most popular are the following:  Astronaut, Architect, Computer Scientist, Engineer, Veterinarian, Paleontologist, Marine Biologist, Entomologist, Inventor, Technician and Doctor.

Astronaut: Especially for the young and the adventurous, this could be a dream job. The job entails walking on the moon, traveling through space, flying a space shuttle and taking pictures of whatever is seen outside the earth. This job could be very risky but definitely extraordinary.

Architect:  An architect deals with building design and construction. Supervision of the construction of buildings which they also design is the common job for these people.

Getting into an architectural school may require a bit of talent for a portfolio of your best work is usually needed to be able to get into it.

Usually, after graduating from architectural school, three or more years is spent as an apprentice before they could get a license by passing their Architect Registration Examination.  Architecture deals with these courses: Engineering, Technology, and Interior Design.

Computer Scientist: This job is usually what is being automatically linked with science and technology. It is commonly linked probably because; most  innovations are being dealt with computers. A computer scientist, computer programmer in particular, tells the computers what to do. They design and prepare the codes for the computers. In result, they have software that simplifies and automates the normal way of doing things.  Most common examples are those high-end phones. Aside from the sleek and futuristic designs, what make a cell phone expensive are the features that a cell phone is capable of doing.

Connection to the internet, GPRS, and all other applications are powered by soft wares. And all of these are workings of a software developer or programmers.

Engineer: Engineer is still divided into different fields. Ideally, engineering is about thinking of solutions, designing it and implementing it. Civil engineering and Chemical engineering are two of the many fields of engineering. Civil engineers, design anything from subways to large buildings. A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is needed. Chemical engineering, on the other hand, creates chemical solutions for different uses. Chemicals are created sometimes to create new materials.  Being good at math and chemistry is definitely a big plus. A bachelor’s degree in engineering is needed also.

Chemical engineers usually work in the petroleum industry, food production, and environmental institutions among others.

Veterinarian: These people are the animals’ best friend. They cure sick animals. Veterinarians also keep healthy animals as they are if not be at their best condition.  These animal doctors spend at least seven years in school. Thus, they should love animals because they have to deal with them for long.

Science and technology definitely offered equally exciting and challenging careers. These technological advancements and scientific achievements greatly influence our lifestyle and impact our lives, thus it is important to learn them. However, in dealing with the choice on one’s career, one has to be careful in consideration for everyone wants to spend a life at a job that one enjoys.
